Today’s temperatures are expected to be in the 70s before a cold front moves in later this evening, bringing a marginal chance for thunderstorms.
Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery noted that while the risk remains low for severe weather, the primary threats will be damaging winds and locally heavy rain.
East winds this morning were reportedly between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts around 30 mph. Winds will become southeast this afternoon and are expected to increase to between 25 and 35 mph with a few gusts as high as 45 mph for a few hours.
Some potential impacts that these conditions could have include possible tree damage which may result in limbs across roads or falling onto houses as well as downed power lines which could cause power outages.
