Pulaski County Commissioners to Appoint Veterans Service Officer, Open Lawn Care Bids

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

The Pulaski County Commissioners are expected to appoint a new veterans service officer tonight. Tom White with the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs is scheduled to be at tonight’s meeting to discuss the position.

The commissioners will also discuss a request for proposals for county employee health insurance. Some county officials believe there’s a potential for significant cost savings, but that could also mean big changes in coverage, requiring county officials to come up with some specifications.

In other business tonight, the commissioners will open lawn care bids. Last year, the county hired an outside company to mow the lawn at certain county properties. The commissioners briefly considered bringing that work back in-house, but decided last month to continue outsourcing it, after all.

A potential move for the Assessor’s Office will be discussed tonight, as will the issue of courthouse security. Last week, Commissioner Jerry Locke said work is underway on another facilities plan that would be a less expensive alternative to building an addition onto the Justice Center.

Updates are also scheduled tonight from Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff, EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo, and Sheriff Jeff Richwine. Tonight’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 6:00 EDT at the Pulaski County Courthouse.
