Winamac Town Marshal Mark Hoffman presented a hire recommendation to Town Council members Monday night.
Hoffman explained, “We have an excellent candidate for our open position. His name is Matthew Scott, he has the academy, He is a lieutenant in the National Guard, he works part-time in Wheatfield and dispatches full time. Our Department would like to put him on with the board’s blessing.”
Town Council President Tommy Murray asked if the officer who left the force returned his uniform, holster and other items belonging to the department. Hoffman confirmed that everything was returned.
There was no need for an official motion but members gave Hoffman the go-ahead to hire Scott.
