A Knox man suffered a medical issue Wednesday morning while driving on E. Culver Road, west of McGill Street in Knox which caused an accident.
Knox City Police officers say 72-year-old Jerry Berndt’s vehicle struck a pole around 10:55 a.m. as the medical complication occurred. He was the only occupant in the vehicle. He was transported to Starke Hospital.
The accident caused a power outage in the area where NIPSCO officials restored power to affected areas in a timely manner.
The Knox City Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Knox-Center Township Fire Department and Starke County EMS.
