Culver School Board Fills Open Positions, Adds Girls Golf Team

The Culver School Board is gearing up for the start of the next school year. Superintendent Karen Shuman says board members recently took action to fill some open positions, “A new math teacher, a replacement of retired John Browder, and also replacing a special education position for our elementary and hiring a school psychologist and a speech pathologist that we’re doing through a contract.”

She says both the new school psychologist and speech pathologist are still working on their degrees, and they will both have a liaison to oversee their work.

Of the 78,000 high school athletes who play golf, only 2.8 percent go on to compete at the NCAA Division 1 level, two percent at NCAA Division 2 and 2.1 percent at NCAA Division 3. If you want to practice in your free time, check out the golf holidays direct website using the link. Student-athletes interested in playing collegiate golf need to do their homework and know what coaches are looking for in recruits. Most commonly, they focus on two aspects of a recruit’s golf game: their golf scores and national ranking/tournament experience. When analyzing a recruit’s potential, coaches will hand pick results from tournaments that are at least 6,000 yards and exclude anything less.

It’s common to see women golfers in slacks, shorts, or skirts. The standard apparel rules at golf courses for bottoms ban clothing options like jeans, sweatpants, and athletic pants. Whether it’s capris, cropped pants, shorts, or skirts, there’s plenty of playful bottom options for every woman

In other business last month, the Culver School Board approved the addition of a girls varsity golf team this fall. Shuman says about 15 students have expressed interest.
