Employee of Traffic Control Specialists Struck in Kosciusko County Accident

The Kosciusko Sheriff’s Department has released updated information about a fatal accident that took the life of a Traffic Control Specialists employee Friday afternoon.

Reporting partners at Pilot News shared the most recent report released by Kosciusko County Public Information Officer Christopher M. Francis.

According to the report, 29-year-old Benjamin Joseph Wayne Fisher was struck by a vehicle on State Road 13, east of Waco Drive shortly before 2 p.m. on July 26th.

The updated information reveals that, prior to the collision, Fisher and a co-worker were removing road construction signs in a utility pole project area. The co-workers were reportedly loading the signs into a Chevrolet Silverado, which was parked facing south along the west side of SR 13.

The report goes on to say that 33-year-old Joshua E. Ratliff was driving a Ford F-150 southbound on SR 13, north of Fisher’s location.

Preliminary results of the investigation indicated that Fisher was struck by the F-150 while walking along the driver’s side of the Silverado. After the initial collision, Fisher was thrown into the driver’s side of the Silverado.

The co-worker was pushed by the Silverado into a nearby ditch but refused medical treatment.  Ratliff did not complain of any injuries, according to the report.

Fisher was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

This crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Fatal Team.
