Knox School Board Discusses New Teacher Collective Bargaining Process

The Knox Community School Board members were updated on the new legislation regarding the teacher collective bargaining process.

Superintendent Dr William Reichhart said two extra public hearings are required under the new law which will be hosted by the Knox Federation of Teachers and the administration.  The first hearing is set for Tuesday, Aug. 6.

“That will be for any people from the public who would like to come and give us input concerning salary and wages on our next contract,” said Dr. Reichhart.

Another hearing would be held following the tentative agreement with the Teacher’s Association by Oct. 1.

“The teachers will then ratify the teacher’s contract and we’ll have a final meeting on Oct. 21.  So, the State has added a couple boxes that we need to check off as we go through the collective bargaining process for the 2019-2020 school year with our teachers.”

The school board approved the processes as presented.
