Knox Students Benefit from Porter-Starke Services Programs

Students attending the Knox Community School Corporation are benefiting from the services provided by Porter-Starke Services.

Knox Community School Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart said Porter-Starke Services Director of Children and Family Services Tim McCurdy presented information to the school board Monday night.

Services were provided to students in the Knox Middle School and Knox Elementary School during the last school year.

“They provided 1,211 services to 67 different students in both schools,” said Dr. Reichhart.  “They valued this service at around $65,000.”

The school board members agreed that it is an invaluable service to the students.

“We feel as a school district that this program has been instrumental in helping some of our students with their mental health needs as we go forward from the beginning of the school year to the end of the school year.”

When the school board approved the agreement last July, Dr. Reichhart said that Porter-Starke designed the program to be funded primarily through Medicaid.
