Starke County Council, Commissioners to Meet Tonight

The Starke County Council members will meet in a joint meeting with the county commissioners tonight where they will consider a contract quote to continue radio services with J&K Communications.  Matthew Noonan from the Starke County Communications Committee presented the one-year service agreement for $42,000 to the commissioners earlier this month.  They decided to discuss it tonight in a joint meeting with the council members.

The council will also discuss the City of Knox’s Primary Election costs.  Knox Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston took issue with the county’s claim of $8,700 for the cost of the Primary Election as this is the first time a claim for the election has been received since he’s been in office.  He stressed that the city council did not budget the cost in the 2019 budget.  A conclusion on the matter could come tonight.

The council members will also receive an update from the Starke County Economic Development Foundation and receive information on the possible acquisition of the Knox Moose Family Center building and the SYSCO property.

The joint meeting of the Starke County Council and Commissioners will begin at 5:30 p.m. CT followed by the regular meeting of the commissioners.  They will consider an insurance policy for a railroad crossing.

The meetings will be held in the first floor meeting room of the Starke County Annex No. 1 building at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
