Honor the Memory of Drew Shearin While Assisting Aspiring Musicians This Saturday

The charitable organization “Drew’s Gift of Music” has been instrumental in providing band students throughout Indiana with the equipment and opportunities they need to pursue their musical passions.

Drew’s Gift was established in memory of Drew Shearin by his loved ones after he passed away in the fall of 2011.

At 17, Drew had already mastered multiple instruments, served as drum major for the Knox Redskin Brigade and reached the status of an award-winning composer, in addition to touching the lives of many with his friendly and helpful personality.

Community members have the chance to collectively commemorate Drew and contribute to the cause created in his honor during the annual Drew’s Gift of Music motorcycle ride and charity event on Saturday, August 3rd.

Those planning to participate in the motorcycle ride will meet at 10-56 Brewing Company, located on US-35 in Knox. Registration will start at 11 a.m. and riders will take off at noon.

The cost for a single rider is $20 and it will cost $30 to ride with a passenger. If you pay a ride ticket, that covers the cost to attend the dinner as well.

The charity event will be held at 4 p.m. at VFW Post 748 in Knox. The cost to attend is $10 and the event will include an auction, entertainment and a dinner.

In addition to monetary contributions, people are welcome to bring instruments to donate as well.

All funds raised and instruments donated go to help the organization with their mission to carry on Drew’s passion and dedication for music in all of its arrangements by empowering students to obtain musical instruments, financial support for instruction and scholarships for advanced music education.
