Fire Destroys Knox Home

A home west of Knox is a total loss following an early morning fire on Wednesday.

Knox-Center Township Fire Chief Kenny Pfost said firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 7 a.m. on 50 S. west of Range Road after dispatchers received a call of smoke coming from a home there.  Pfost said upon arrival, flames were seen coming out of the roof.  Crews were on the scene for several hours before the scene was clear.

Pfost noted that nobody was at the home at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

No preliminary cause or origin of the fire was released.  The Indiana State Fire Marshal is expected to investigate the scene to determine the official cause and origin.  More information will be released at that time.

The Knox-Center Township Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Hamlet-Davis Township, North Judson-Wayne Township, and Washington Township Fire Departments as well as Starke County EMS.
