Gas Prices Expected to Continue to Go Down

The decrease in gas prices is expected to continue. Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, says prices have been inching lower, following a spike during the attacks in Saudi Arabia. “The statewide average in Indiana is down about five cents a gallon in the last week,” DeHaan says. “It stands at $2.51. That’s about 50 cents lower than last year.”

He says that trend should continue as oil prices drop. “They’re down another dollar a barrel. They stand at $52. That’s over $10 a barrel less than where they were during the Saudi attacks. We should continue to see prices ease.”

Between now and the end of the year, DeHaan predicts that gas prices will remain in the low-to-mid-two-dollar-a-gallon range, but a few gas stations in the state could drop under two dollars a gallon by the end of the year.
