Hamlet Zoning Board Threatens to Place Lien on 503 S. Starke Street

Progress appears to have stopped at 503 South Starke Street in Hamlet. For several months, the town’s zoning board has been urging the owner to bring the home into compliance.

During an update last week, town officials said they haven’t any seen work taking place. Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts said the owner hasn’t made any payments for the meter pit that the town installed, and he hasn’t given any updates.

Since no payments have been made, board members directed Pitts to send out a notice, giving the owner 30 days to pay the full amount, or a lien will be placed on the property. The owner will also be required to be at next month’s zoning board meeting, or the town will start legal proceedings.
