Knox Board of Works Approves the Sale of Surplus Property

The Knox Board of Works took action to sell five pieces of surplus property when members met this week.

At their meeting back in September, the board voted to determine that five different lots were officially considered surplus. Those properties included 304 S. Main Street, 202 N. Pearl Street, 354 Water Street, 108 North Allen Street, and 303 E. John Street.

At that time, they also decided that adjacent landowners would be able to bid on the properties.

When members met Wednesday morning, Mayor Dennis Estok announced that a minimum bid was received on all five lots. The minimum bids varied depending on the property but they were determined based on the yearly tax assessment.

There was no opposition to selling the lots to the neighboring property owners.

Estok said with the board’s approval, City Attorney Autumn Ferch will now be able to proceed with the sales process.
