Multiple Crews Fight Fire at Former City Tavern Building in Culver

UPDATE: As of 10:30 p.m. ET flames had been extinguished but Culver FD Crews remained on scene treating hot spots.

Multiple local firefighters are working to extinguish a fire that broke out at structure in Culver earlier today.

Around 5:15 p.m. Marshall County Central Dispatch announced that crews from the Culver, Plymouth and Monterey Fire Departments were on the scene of a fire located near the corner of E Lakeshore Drive and Lake Street in Culver. The Culver Police Department and Culver EMS were also reported to be at the scene.

As of 5:45 p.m. dispatch confirmed that crews were still on the scene, working to get the flames extinguished. Individuals are asked to avoid the area.

Culver Police Chief Wayne Bean confirmed that the fire is at the former City Tavern Building located at 415 Lakeshore Drive. That structure is currently at the center of an ongoing legal case about a demolition order involving the Town of Culver and the property owners.
