Knox Man Suspected of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, Child Solicitation

David Mattes

A Knox man was arrested earlier this month on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor as a Level 4 Felony and child solicitation as a Level 5 Felony.

David Mattes, 42, is accused of sending a 15-year-old girl inappropriate text messages on a cell phone that he purchased for her and also sent her inappropriate social media messages, according to the probable cause affidavit filed by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office on Nov. 8.  Court documents also indicate that he had sexual intercourse and sexual contact with the girl during several occasions in October of this year in Starke County.

Mattes appeared for his initial hearing in Starke Circuit Court on Monday, Nov. 18 where he pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered to not have any contact with the victim.  Mattes’ bond was set at $100,000 surety.  He remains in the Starke County Justice Center.
