Wanatah Bank Robbery Leads to Police Pursuit in Porter County

A robbery at a Wanatah bank Tuesday morning has led to two people being taken into custody. LaPorte County Police say the robbery happened shortly before 11:00 at the Horizon Bank on West First Street.

A vehicle matching a witness’s description reportedly led Porter County Police on a pursuit along State Road 49 and U.S. 12, before one suspect was taken into custody around 11:30 a.m. Officers say a second person who was in the vehicle before the chase began was later picked up by police near State Road 49 and the Indiana Toll Road.

No bank employees were hurt. Detectives continue to investigate. The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is expected to release the names of the subjects along with specific charges in the coming days.
