A Knox man was sentenced in Starke Circuit Court on Thursday morning on a charge of unlawful possession of a syringe.
William Miller, 37, pleaded guilty to the Level 6 Felony charge in a negotiated plea agreement between his Defense Attorney Timothy Lemon and Starke County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Micah Cox.
Miller admitted to Magistrate Jeanene Calabrese that he possessed the syringe that contained a narcotic drug in an incident on June 7, 2019.
She accepted the plea agreement where Miller was sentenced to 24 months in the Starke County Justice Center with none of that sentence suspended. He will be permitted to serve that sentence on Starke County Community Corrections electronic monitoring. He will need to attend any treatment programs as recommended by Starke County Court Services. He was ordered to pay a $250 drug interdiction fee and will need to pay any outstanding probation fees. He is currently on electronic monitoring from a previous conviction so he will not receive any credit time in this case.
He may petition the court to modify the sentence at any time.
