Hamlet Town Council to Work on Land Sale Strategy for Home Development

The Hamlet Town Council tonight will continue discussing how to get a new home built on a piece of town-owned land at Lincoln and Pearl streets. Some options mentioned so far include selling the land to the highest bidder or promising to refund the purchase price if a home is built to the town’s specifications.

Council members will discuss strategies during an executive session before making a decision during tonight’s regular meeting, according to Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts. In other business, the Hamlet Town Council will reorganize and make its annual appointments for 2020. Starke County Economic Development Foundation Special Projects Coordinator Ron Gifford is also expected to give his regular update.

Tonight’s town council meeting will be held at Hamlet Town Hall, following the 6:30 p.m. zoning board meeting.
