Knox City Council Approves $7,000 Increase to Economic Development Foundation Fee

The City of Knox will soon be paying more to the Starke County Economic Development Foundation.

The city council Tuesday approved an amendment to the city’s contract with the foundation that raises its annual fee from $75,000 to $82,000. “We got a raise in our CEDIT money this year,” Mayor Dennis Estok explained. “It went up. Basically, the development foundation did ask us to up their share.”

The economic development foundation used to get a certain percentage of the city’s economic development income tax revenues, but they switched to a flat fee in 2018. Estok said that after discussions, the $7,000 increase seemed like the right amount.
