North Judson Police to Host Women’s Self-Defense Class and Freezin’ for a Reason Next Weekend

The North Judson Police Department is offering another women’s self-defense class next Saturday. It will include a refresher from the last class, along with more in-depth, scenario-based training, according to the department’s Facebook page.

The class will be led by Town Marshal Kelly Fisher and DT Instructor Travis Schieber, with help from other town police officers. It starts at 8:00 a.m. in the North Judson-San Pierre Middle School building.

Participants must be at least 10 years of age. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Those planning to attend are also asked to bring a hydration source. To RSVP, call Fisher at 574-806-5907 or email njpolicefisher@embarqmail.com.

But that’s not the only event North Judson Police have planned for next weekend. Freezin’ for a Reason returns for a second year on Sunday, March 1 at 1:00 p.m. Once again, residents have the option of either jumping into a pool filled with icy cold water or buying ice to make it even colder. Fisher told the town council Monday that this year’s event will raise money for the police department’s K9 fund.
