Culver Town Council Extends Emergency Declaration, Discusses Donation toward COVID-19 Relief

The Culver Town Council members took action Tuesday night to extend the Public Health Emergency Disaster Declaration to Tuesday, May 4.  This allows the town to be eligible for funds used in the response to COVID-19.

The town council members also considered a donation toward an effort spearheaded by the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Initiative to raise funds for food and housing assistance for Marshall County residents.  The organization is partnering with the Marshall County Community Foundation and the United Way of Marshall County with the hopes of raising $400,000 in the campaign.

Council President Ginny Bess Munroe stated that she spoke with Township Trustee Marlene Mahler about assisting with the donation, but Mahler thought that by contributing to the cause would be redundant since she is currently providing that type of assistance to Union Township residents in need.

An Intergovernmental Agreement was presented between Marshall County and the Town of Culver that states that the town would provide a $10,000 donation for the intended purpose of assisting residents with rent, utilities, mortgage and food as directed by the United Way of Marshall County.  The Culver Town Council members approved the agreement with a unanimous vote.
