Starke County property tax statements should be arriving in the mail in the next few days and Treasurer Kay Chaffins reminds residents that the due date is May 11.
The government office is closed to the public so taxpayers are urged to submit payments by mail. Payments can be mailed to the address posted on the back of the actual tax bill to the Starke County Treasurer, 1st Source Bank, PO Box 327, South Bend, IN 46624.
Property tax payments can also be completed online at www.co.starke.in.us, or by utilizing the drop box outside of the Starke County Annex No. 1 Building at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox. Tax payments may also be dropped off at 1st Source Bank in Knox, Demotte State Bank in Knox, First Farmers Bank and Trust in Knox and North Judson, and the First National Bank of Monterey in North Judson and Monterey. Since many of the bank lobby areas are not open to the public due to COVID-19 concerns, put the payment in an envelope and use the drive-thru window.
If the public access restriction has been lifted at the county level between now and the tax due date or if other conditions arise, Chaffins will update any procedure changes.
