Movie Theaters, Playgrounds to Stay Closed in Stage 3 of Back on Track Plan

Governor Holcomb has officially signed an executive order moving most of Indiana to Stage 3 of his Back on Track plan Friday. But movie theaters and playgrounds will have to wait a bit longer to open.

Both were originally supposed to be part of Stage 3, but the Governor’s Office says movie theaters are now expected to open along with other entertainment facilities in Stage 4. Drive-in theaters and miniature golf courses may be open, though. Playgrounds are still to be determined.

The updated order lets recreational teams for non-contact sports practice but not compete. Contact sports like football, basketball, rugby, and wrestling may not be played, but players in recreational leagues may take part in conditioning and non-contact drills.

Day care facilities for adults with developmental disabilities may reopen June 1, the same day as youth day camps. Cass, Lake, and Marion counties will not move to Stage 3 until June 1.
