Pulaski Commissioners to Consider Architect Contract for Courthouse Renovations

Pulaski County Commissioners: Mike McClure, Jerry Locke, Kenny Becker

Pulaski County Courthouse renovation plans could take another step forward this morning. A contract with architecture firm Rowland Design will be up for the county commissioners’ approval.

If approved, the county would have to pay Rowland $5,000 up front, according to Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer, who’s serving as the county’s liaison on the project. He told the county council last week that the total architect’s fee will depend on the construction costs, but it could end up being around $800,000. Rowland previously put together preliminary plans and cost estimates.

Origer is also expected to discuss municipal advisor Baker Tilly’s financial review. Origer told the county council last week that the firm has completed its cash flow analysis, but won’t have any firm recommendations on project financing until a construction manager is hired and more detailed cost estimates are in place.

The commissioners will also get an update on the county’s COVID-19 grant this morning. The county is applying for up to $250,000 through the state’s COVID-19 Response Program to provide funding to local businesses. The county commissioners will also decide whether to let the Board of Aviation Commissioners proceed with a runway sealing project at Arens Field.

This morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 8:30 EDT. Attendance is limited due to COVID-19 concerns, but it can be viewed live on the Pulaski County, Indiana, Government Facebook page.
