Wanted LaPorte County Man Arrested following Police Chase Sunday

A LaPorte County man wanted on suspicion of dealing in a controlled substance was taken into custody Sunday, but not before police say he tried to get away on a motorcycle and then checked into a Michigan City motel. LaPorte County sheriff’s deputies say they went to a home in the 3700 block of East County Road 100 South at about 6:15 p.m. to try to locate Tyler T. Lukac, 26.

But when they got there, they say they saw a man leave the property on a motorcycle. Deputies reportedly chased him for a short distance before ending the pursuit near State Road 4 and Boyd Boulevard.

Police say they later got information that Lukac had checked into a motel on the south side of Michigan City. Deputies worked with Michigan City Police and reportedly found Lukac and the motorcycle inside a motel room.

Lukac was eventually booked into the LaPorte County Jail. He’s accused of the Level 5 felony of possession of methamphetamine, along with warrants for dealing in a controlled substance and failure to return. Police say additional charges related to the pursuit and stolen motorcycle are being sought through the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office.
