Bids for Pulaski County Road 400 East Bridge Replacement Higher than Expected

An upcoming Pulaski County bridge replacement project may cost a bit more than officials had hoped. The county commissioners Monday opened four construction bids for the bridge on County Road 400 East over Mill Creek. They ranged from just over $561,000 to more than $817,000. JCI Bridge Group was the apparent low bidder.

Jeff Larrison with United Consulting said those figures were a little higher than expected. He noted that he’s been seeing increasing construction costs in recent weeks. The county got $397,500 in Community Crossings funding from the state to help with the cost.

United Consulting’s engineers will review the bids and make a recommendation to Highway Superintendent Gary Kruger before the commissioners’ next meeting on July 6.
