The Indiana State Department of Health announced Wednesday that there was an increase of 264 positive COVID-19 cases statewide. The total number of Indiana residents who have tested positive is now 41,013.
In Marshall County, there was an increase of 7 cases from Tuesday’s count to bring the cumulative total number of COVID-19 cases to 322. Starke County had 1 additional case for a total of 55 cases while Pulaski County remained unchanged at 53 cases.
Patients are in varying stages of recovery and actively fighting the virus.
No additional deaths were reported locally, but the Indiana State Department of Health recorded another 24 COVID-19 deaths in the state to bring the total to 2,289.
According to information from the Regenstrief Institute, in a new trends option on the dashboard on its website, Marshall, Starke and Pulaski Counties are in a decreasing trend when it comes to emergency visits, hospital admissions, and deaths. Marshall County has seen a steady increase in positive tests over the past few weeks, but the company lists the positive test trend as inconclusive.
More people in the age groups of 40 to 49, 60 to 69 and 70 to 79 are testing positive for COVID-19 while a decrease is shown in most all other age groups.
In the state, Regenstrief officials say 74 percent of those diagnosed with COVID-19 are in the recovery stage while 20 percent are fighting the virus. Those statistics are showing improvement from last week’s information.
