One Community Crossings Project Complete in Starke County

Paving work on 50 S. from State Road 39 to Knox City limits in Starke County is complete.  The road opened last week following the work done by Walsh and Kelly crews.  The road will allow better flow of truck traffic in that area.

The county was awarded $731,580 in Community Crossings Matching Grant funding for the project.

Coming up in August, two more Community Crossings projects are anticipated to begin.  Range Road will be paved from State Road 10 to Toto Road.  Paving will be done on 250 N. from U.S. 35 to Range Road as well. Reith Riley Construction Company, Inc. will do the work.  Starke County Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler told the Starke County Commissioners last week that the highway department will be doing some shoulder work in the area prior to the arrival of Rieth Riley Crews.

The county received $1 million in Community Crossings Matching Grant funds for those two projects with the county’s 25 percent match coming from the County Economic Development Income Tax fund.
