Rapid Recovery Initiative Launches in Indiana

A new initiative will help residents, communities and businesses get back on track during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was announced Friday that Indiana’s Governor’s Workforce Cabinet launched the “Rapid Recovery for a Better Future” initiated that will provide comprehensive support for residents to secure a job, assess and grow skills, and get what they need to get back on their feet.

$50 million from the CARES Act will put toward the effort as described by the Chair of the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet and Indiana’s Commissioner for Higher Education Teresa Lubbers.

“We’re prepared to work alongside our partners in scaling these programs to ensure that Hoosiers are prepared to take the next step toward getting a new job or skill, or up for a better job with their current or new employer,” said Lubbers.  “Rapid Recovery for a Better Future meets people where they are.

“Rather than the government attempting to be the leading driver for connecting people to information, this initiative will utilize an active network of employers, community and faith-based organizations, and philanthropic groups – trusted sources of information for Hoosiers so that they can learn more about the options within their own communities.”

The way residents can learn about these resources is by logging online to YourNextStepIn.org.  It will connect Hoosiers to job resources, education and training and financial options.

“Visitors to the site can talk to a real person to answer questions and help them determine the right path forward and the training options that will help them achieve their goals.  These partners and tools help to connect Hoosiers to opportunities, some that already exist and we will continue to build upon these connectors in the weeks and months ahead.”

Short-term education and training opportunities will be available through the Workforce Ready Grant and the Employer Training Grant, as well as expanded career coaching and navigation for those who need help figuring out their next steps.
