Large Events Will Have to Have COVID-19 Plan Approved by Health Department before Taking Place

Fairs, festivals, and other large events will soon have to have a COVID-19 mitigation plan approved by the county health department. Governor Holcomb said Wednesday that the new requirement will be included in his executive order keeping Indiana at Stage 4.5 of his Back on Track plan.

“If you’re having an event anywhere in the State of Indiana and you’ve got over 250 people there, we’re going to be requiring that you work with your local health department to get approval of that plan,” Holcomb explained.

The written plan would have to address capacity limits, social distancing, face masks, staff and volunteer screening, sanitation, and compliance, among other items. The requirement would also apply to parades, graduations, outdoor concerts, family reunions, weddings, and other large-scale events. It goes into effect July 23.
