Wheatfield Man Injured in La Porte County Crash

A Wheatfield man was airlifted from the scene of an accident in the early morning hours on Saturday, July 11 on U.S. 421 near County Road 1800 South in La Porte County.

La Porte County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the scene in Dewey Township where they reportedly spotted the vehicle along the southbound shoulder of U.S. 421.  An investigation by the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department found that a gray 2003 BMW, driven by 36-year-old Noah H. Serynek, was traveling south on U.S. 421 and for an unknown reason, the vehicle drove left of center into the northbound lane for a short distance, back into and across the southbound lane, off the roadway, into a ditch for an extended distance, before eventually coming to rest south of County Road 1800 South.

Police say Serynek was airlifted from the scene to an area hospital for treatment on an upper body injury.

Alcohol and toxicology tests results are pending.

The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Westville Police Department, La Crosse and Cass-Clinton Volunteer Fire Departments, La Porte County EMS, and Memorial Medflight.
