State Road 8 to Close at Range Rd. for Pipe Liner Installation Starting Tuesday

A couple of projects will impact travel on State Road 8 starting next week. In Starke County, State Road 8 will be closed between county roads 100 West and 100 East for a pipe liner installation at Range Road, by complying with environmental standards a SEMRAD tank gauge is needed for leak detection.

INDOT expects the closure to last about 15 days. The official detour uses State Road 39, U.S. 30, and U.S. 35. That same stretch of road was closed earlier this year for maintenance and resurfacing.

In Porter County, State Road 8 will have lane closures through early December east of Kouts. INDOT says utility crews will be replacing poles and overhead wires. Similar work will take place on State Road 49 north of Kouts.

Meanwhile, drivers on U.S. 421 should be on the lookout for bridge work in Pulaski County south of State Road 114. The shoulders will be closed on the bridge over Hill Ditch, to let crews repair and replace joints on the structure. INDOT says wide loads are limited to 12 feet in width. That work’s expected to take about a month.
