An officer with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office was recently put on administrative leave and later resigned amid an internal investigation at the facility.
The investigation began in February of this year when Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin was reportedly notified of some discrepancies in the evidence room. An outside investigator was brought into work on the investigation while working closely with the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office on the case.
As a result, a comprehensive audit of the evidence room over the last 10 weeks allegedly revealed more missing property. A subsequent investigation eventually led to the approval and execution of a search warrant, according to information from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office. An officer was reportedly put on administrative leave and later resigned.
The investigation is ongoing and may involve the FBI to determine future steps in the case.
No charges have been filed at this time.
