While the discharge of fireworks brings excitement to residential neighborhoods for different celebrations, city and town leaders remind residents that there are regulations in place for this activity.
According to state statute (22-11-14-10.5), consumer fireworks may be used between the hours of 5 p.m. and two hours after sunset local time between June 29 to July 9, between the hours of 10 a.m. and midnight on July 4, and between the hours of 10 a.m. on December 31 and 1 a.m. on January 1. Many municipalities follow state statute.
In the City of Knox, fines may be imposed if anyone is found in violation of the ordinance.
