The Eastern Pulaski School Board discussed providing their own welding program during Monday night’s meeting.
Eastern Pulaski School Superintendent Dara Chezem told WKVI News students who currently take welding classes do so by traveling to Logansport Community High School. She added there is a need for structural welding certified individuals within the Winamac community.
Superintendent Chezem said the school has been working with Ivy Tech to make this opportunity become a reality. She said students will be able to gain Ivy Tech credits through the program that is expected to begin August of 2023.
Local businesses have also expressed interest in the program. Superintendent Chezem said several local businesses have said they will provide jobs for students involved in the program right out of high school.
