The Knox Board of Public Works heard an update on 6 North Pearl Street during their meeting last week.
Director of Building, Planning and Code Compliance Lonnie Boley told WKVI News he informed the board 6 North Pearl Street has been issued a notification of a fine for non-compliance. He stated the first order to rehabilitate or demolish the unsafe building was given on September 24 of 2019.
Boley explained that the owner has 30 days to show some signs of repair or have the unsafe building demolished. If nothing is done within the 30 days, Boley said a $5,000 fine will be assessed. It was also mentioned if nothing is done within the 30 days the fine must be paid in full to avoid legal action.
