The Pulaski County Commissioners discussed approving an amended contract with Tonn and Blank Construction involving the courthouse project during their meeting Monday.
In a previous story, the Pulaski County Council approved an additional appropriation of $12,750,000 for the courthouse project after the second round of bids were opened. Pulaski County Community Development Commission (CDC) Executive Director Nathan Origer informed the commissioners and council he would have the second round of bids looked over by Tonn and Blank to make sure everything checks out before asking the commissioners to move forward.
During Monday’s commissioner meeting, Origer stated the formal recommendation from Tonn and Blank regarding the courthouse project is to proceed with the lower bids received last week. He went on to say the total construction budget cost including all of the bids received came in at $9,899,446. Origer stated if the commissioners were ready to proceed, he would need an authorization from them to have commission President Chuck Mellon execute the amended contract changing the price from zero to $9,899,446 for the project.
Commissioner Maurice Loehmer made a motion to authorize commissioner Mellon to execute the amended contract with Tonn and Blank. That motion was seconded and passed by vote with commissioner Mike McClure opposed.
