The Knox City Council discussed the annual Space Run scheduled in downtown Knox during their meeting last week.
Knox Main Street United invites the public to learn about Knox’s historic Space Tree and participate in a Space Run through the Wythogan Park and Knox’s downtown area Saturday, May 4. On the northwest corner of the Starke County Courthouse Square is a sycamore tree, grown from a seed that orbited the Earth on the Space Shuttle Atlantis in 1988. Seedlings were given to each Indiana county, and Starke County’s was planted on the courthouse lawn in April of 1990.
It was announced the Space Run will start at the Starke County Courthouse, go through Wythogan Park following the mile long loop until reaching the splash pad before exiting the park to the rock garden. The run will continue on through and around the downtown area, finally ending at Serenity Gardens. There will be a 3K and a 5K option with all proceeds going toward helping the future Knox Main Street United events. The cost is $10 and includes a T-shirt while supplies last. Those interested in registering for the event are able to do so here.
