Deadline to apply for State Disaster Relief Fund Assistance tomorrow

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is reminding citizens that tomorrow, June 10th, is the deadline to apply for State Disaster Relief Fund Assistance.

The government program is accepting applications from Jasper, Newton, and Starke County residents who were effected by the severe storms that occurred on March 10th of this year. The State Disaster Relief Fund is intended to help with immediate needs for individual assistance; and funds are available for eligible applicants up to $25,000.

Those wishing to apply can do so here.

The State Disaster Relief Fund applies to individuals who are uninsured or underinsured. State funding cannot replace insurance coverage, which the Department of Homeland Security says is the primary and best source of protection from storm damage. This fund is only for addressing the costs of repairing, replacing, or restoring property that is the primary residence of the applicant, and cannot be used to help pay insurance deductibles.
