Indiana AG Urging FCC Rules Change

  
 

The Indiana Attorney General’s Office is touting new rules to constituents that could help prevent robocalls and other text messaging scams.

The rules come courtesy of the Federal Communications Commission – which has proposed allowing phone carriers to put call-blocking technologies on devices. According to information released by the Attorney General’s office, the technology exists, but current FCC rules disallow it.

Flash Flood Watch in Effect Through Monday Night

 

 
 

A flash flood watch is in effect for northern Indiana through late tonight. The National Weather Service warns thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are expected to become widespread across the area this afternoon and tonight as a slow moving cold front comes into the area. That, combined with recent heavy rains and high river and stream levels could result in flash flooding. Continue reading

One Dead in North Judson Hit-and-Run

Starke County Sheriff's Department BadgeThe Starke County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after one person was pronounced dead near North Judson on Sunday morning.

Officers received the call around 1:30 Sunday morning and responded to the area of South Dawn Drive East. Several individuals were attempting to provide aid to the victim – who’s name is not being released at this time.

Culver School Board Preview

The Culver Schools Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for tonight at 7:00 [EST] will take place in the administrative office located at 700 School Street. The 2015/16 handbooks for the elementary, middle and high schools for the are in need of approval. An update about the title 1 grant is set to be discussed during tonight’s meeting as well as 2015/16 breakfast and lunch prices. Contract pay date clarifications for both the 2014/15 and 2015/16 school years is another one of the action items the board will cover during the meeting this evening.

LaPorte County Investigators Seeking Help After Mysterious Phone Call

 
 

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after receiving a mysterious phone call on Friday afternoon.

The call came in a few minutes after 4:00 p.m. from a Trac phone with no return number. According to a recording of the call, a female said she was at the Harley Davidson store in the area of County Road 300 North and US 421 and was in distress.
