A Knox man who was hurt in a crash on U.S. 30 back in July has since died from his injuries. The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office says Billy R. Jones, 64, was driving west on U.S. 30, approaching State Road 39 the morning of Thursday, July 20.

Eastern Pulaski School Board Accepts Donation of High-Tech Football Helmets
The Winamac High School football team is getting new helmets that will monitor for concussions, thanks to a $10,000 donation from an anonymous local business person. The school will also get a computer to analyze the data from the helmets, with $1,200 donated by Galfab, according to Eastern Pulaski Superintendent Dan Foster.
N.J.-S.P. School Bus Drivers Set to Receive Raises
North Judson-San Pierre School bus drivers will be receiving raises following a decision to approve the transportation salary schedule made by the school board during a meeting earlier this week. Woman Arrested, After Marshall County Police Reportedly Find Meth in Culver-Area Home
A Marshall County narcotics investigation led to the arrest of a Culver woman Tuesday night. Officers with the Marshall County Police Department and the Marshall County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant around 11:40 p.m., at a home in the 16,000 block of 15B Road. Police say they found methamphetamine and paraphernalia in the home.
Pulaski Council Tables Funding Request, After Members Unsure if They Had Already Approved It
Confusion remains over funding for a new van for Pulaski County Human Services. On Monday, the county council tabled an additional appropriation request of $6,894, after council members were not sure if they had already approved it. That, along with a $200 private donation, would cover the local share of the purchase price, while 80 percent would be covered by grant funds.
Street Sweeper Repairs Result in Cleaner Streets Quicker in Winamac
The Winamac Street Department recently had work done on their street sweeper. The renovations will help improve cleaning capabilities, speed up the amount of time it takes to complete street sweeping tasks and hopefully prolong the lifespan of the 17-year-old machine.
During Winamac Town Council meeting Monday evening, Street Department Superintendent Jeremy Beckner informed the council that this is the first time the sweeper has received any repair work since its purchase, explaining the $16,000 cost.

Mill Pond Festival Returns this Month
The 31st Annual Mill Pond Festival is coming up later this month in Union Mills. The event gets underway Friday, August 25 at 6:00 p.m. with a golf cart rally. Festivities continue Saturday, August 26 with the Mill Pond Festival Parade at 10:00 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 10:30. A fireworks display will take place Saturday night at 8:30.
