West Central Establishes Learning Lab/Alternative Education Program

North Judson Civil War Reenactment to Coincide with Bicentennial Torch Relay

A Civil War encampment will make an appearance at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum next weekend.

A Civil War reenactment may be coming to North Judson this fall, but instead of recreating famous battles from the American South, organizers plan to focus on local soldiers returning home at the end of the war. The North Judson Town Council Monday approved a request from Andy Martin to stage the reenactment on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8 at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum. Continue reading

Starke County Public Library patrons are encouraged to take part in a card shower for a recent retiree. Mary Wharton quietly retired from the Henry F. Schricker branch in Knox on May 27th after 24 years of service. She would not allow her coworkers to throw any sort of party or reception in her honor. Continue reading

North Judson Council Votes to Proceed with Community Center Project, Delays Additional Decisions

Organizers had previously planned to apply this week for grant funding from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to help cover the cost of building a new community center on donated land north of the town’s fire station. Pulaski Commissioners Show Support for Federal PMH Financing

 
 

The Pulaski County Commissioners have provided a letter of support for a project upgrading Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

Officials have already sought special financing from the county to help pay for certain upgrades in the form of a storage facility and upgrades to the parking lot. This is only one part of the project, according to discussion during Monday night’s Commissioner’s meeting.

Truck Route Implementation Moves Forward

Knox Truck OrdinanceThe GPS systems used by over-the-road truck drivers should soon be updated to reflect the truck routes in Knox and North Judson. Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Charlie Weaver told the county commissioners last night 26 separate GPS providers have accepted the revised routes, but he doesn’t have an implementation schedule just yet.
