Pulaski County Seeks Partnership In Exchange for Purdue Extension Offerings
Pulaski County is hoping to form a bit of a partnership with Purdue Extension that allows them better IT services.
The extension offices are linked with the county, but are considered a separate organization. Pulaski County provides assistance in the case of an IT problem, but says the addition of classes offered through IVY tech may require further assistance.
West Central Establishes Learning Lab/Alternative Education Program
West Central High School students will have expanded educational opportunities during the upcoming school year thanks to a program approved last week by the school board. Superintendent Don Street says the learning lab/alternative education program has endless possibilities, including allowing students to retake courses in nontraditional classrooms or take courses not currently offered at West Central. North Judson Civil War Reenactment to Coincide with Bicentennial Torch Relay
A Civil War reenactment may be coming to North Judson this fall, but instead of recreating famous battles from the American South, organizers plan to focus on local soldiers returning home at the end of the war. The North Judson Town Council Monday approved a request from Andy Martin to stage the reenactment on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8 at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum. Continue reading

Pulaski Commissioners Show Support for Federal PMH Financing
The Pulaski County Commissioners have provided a letter of support for a project upgrading Pulaski Memorial Hospital.
Officials have already sought special financing from the county to help pay for certain upgrades in the form of a storage facility and upgrades to the parking lot. This is only one part of the project, according to discussion during Monday night’s Commissioner’s meeting.
Truck Route Implementation Moves Forward
The GPS systems used by over-the-road truck drivers should soon be updated to reflect the truck routes in Knox and North Judson. Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Charlie Weaver told the county commissioners last night 26 separate GPS providers have accepted the revised routes, but he doesn’t have an implementation schedule just yet.
