Maurice G. “Maury” Koenig, age 90, of Knox, passed away at his home Friday, May 31, 2019.
He was born June 10, 1928 in Knox, to Edwin Koenig and Meta Gerstandt Koenig, both deceased. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was a life member of the VFW.
He had retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of service at the Knox Post Office and still found time to maintain the family farm. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed many years in the bowling league.
He especially loved his annual trips to Wisconsin with friends. On October 4, 1958, in North Judson, he married Rose Surma Koenig. She preceded him in death on November 24, 1988.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim Ray (Ken) of Plymouth and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Koenig, a grandson, Karson Ray, and his sisters, Norma Koenig, Delores Metz and Doris Koenig.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 11:00am (CT), with visitation two hours prior to services, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Knox. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.
Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the Little Lambs Pre-School at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. M.C. Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
