Millard Michael “Mike” Spicka, age 93, of Knox, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023. Mike was born September 1, 1930 in Chicago to Millard M. Spicka Sr. and Helen Kaptain Spicka, both deceased.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been a very active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Knox, and is a former Grand Knight of the Queen of All Saints Council 6347 Knights of Columbus, on the board of directors of the Bailey-Cox-Newtson Conservancy District, a precinct committeeman for Starke County Center Township Precinct 6, and he was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of many years, Margaret Spicka. He is survived by a son, Joseph Spicka (Lynette), grandsons, James Spicka (Gina), Steven Spicka (Margaret) and Brian Spicka (Jenny), and great grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Abigail, Ethan and Paige. He was also preceded in death by his three sisters, Ruthann, Virginia and Nancy.
Visitation will take place Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 11am to 12:30pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, a funeral mass will follow at 1pm (CT) at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Knox. The burial will take place on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois.
