Police Reports

From the Knox City Police Department:

Incidents:

12/06/10  Hank Minix, owner of 1st Choice Pawn, reported the southeast window of the overhead garage door at the business to be broken and the southwest window broken near the front of the store.  No inventory was reported stolen.  A large rock was found near the cash register.

12/04/10  Police pulled over Amber Louise Nies Rhodes, 22, for driving the wrong way on US 35.  She was driving north in the southbound lane by the bridge.  The reporting officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle.  An open container was found in the car by police.  Police noticed she had vomited on herself and in the interior of the vehicle.  When asked to step out of the vehicle, she had trouble opening the car door and getting out of the vehicle.  She was taken to the Starke County jail where a female dispatcher had to help the officer get her out of the vehicle.  She refused to take a chemical test when asked by the offier.  Due to the nature of her health, as she vomited in the police car, she was taken to Starke Memorial Hospital.  Preliminary blood results showed her BAC at .210%.  She has charges pending.

12/03/10  Trinidad Resendez told police that when we was dropped off at her residence by friends, she found the back door to be open and the door jam broken.  She called her friends and they came back to help check out the house and see if anyone was in the residence.  No one was in the residence.  Trinidad then looked around the residence and found nothing missing.  Joseph Hoffer told police that he found a person jumping the privacy fence in the back yard.  He chased him but was unable to catch him.

12/02/10  Diana Soto reported to police the theft of a flat panel TV and an XBox 360 arcade system.

12/01/10  Galen Howard reported two firearms stolen from his room at the Super Value Inn.  Howard later found out who stole the firearms.  He bought one rifle back from a different subject.  The investigation into this case continues by the Knox City Police Department.

Arrests:

12/05/10 Steven Soto, 20, 1005 E. Culver Rd., Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with aPrior Conviction, Illegal Possession of Alcohol, Possession of Marijuana with a Prior Conviction, False Informing, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Zachariah Minix, 19, 3380 E. Country Lane, Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Illegal Possession of Alcohol and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Brian Derby, 19, 2548 Laurel Ct., Dyer, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Illegal Possession of Alcohol and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.  Steven Soto allegedly ran into a mailbox and a tree at 2560 E. 150 S. in Knox.  Raquel Anderson told police that a car matching the description of Soto’s vehicle hit the mailbox and tree on her property.

12/04/10 Kevin Ketchum, 38, 2403 US 31 Lot #2, Plymouth, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Methamphetamine.

Elijah McDaniel, 37, no address given, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Marijuana.

12/03/10 Herman Hopkins, 30, 308 Main St. #4, Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Criminal Mischief.  Hopkins told police that he jumped through a storm door at 305 Ruthie Dr. in Knox and slammed his head on the concrete.

12/02/10 Angela Binion, 39, 503 S. Heaton St., Knox, IN, arrested on two arrest warrants through Pulaski County.

Stephen Williams, 27, 914 S. Michigan St. #1, Plymouth, IN, arrested on a warrant through Knox City Court.

11/30/10 Josh Estok, 37, 1307 Evelyn Ave. Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of  two Theft (x2) and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Robert Singleton Jr., 51, 505 S. Bower St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Assisting a Criminal.  Estok allegedly stole a Makita 65 pc. bit set drill.  He also reportedly stole items from Family Dollar and ALCO.

From the Starke County Sheriff’s Department:

Incidents:

12/05/10 Tricia Wortman reported her car was broken into and a window was broken.

12/04/10 Maria Zerbee asked to speak to an officer about a deer head that was left in her mailbox.

12/04/10 Police were called to a bus barn across from the fire house in Washington Township after a break-in was reported to the Sheriff’s Department.

12/04/10 Brian Soales found his vehicle up on wood blocks and the tires and rims stolen.

12/02/10 A resident in the 9300 block of E. 150 N. in Grovertown reported that two male subjects were at her mother’s residence and carrying guns and firing shots.  Nobody is allowed on the property.

12/01/10 Police received a call of a possible mobile meth lab in a red Chrysler Sebring.

11/30/10 A resident in the 5600 block of W. 800 S. in North Judson reported tools and cat carriers stolen from her residence.

Arrests:

12/05/10 Allen Krock, 39, of North Judson, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

12/04/10 Robert Jennings, 32, of Walkerton, IN, arrested a preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of Marijuana and Driving While Suspended-Prior.

12/03/10 Jason Watson, 34, of Culver, IN, was arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

From the North Judson Police Department:

Incidents:

12/06/10 Sara Scutchfield reported speakers stolen from her vehicle.

12/05/10 David Watts, 55, of Knox was cited for crossing the roadway without yielding to traffic.

12/02/10 Michael Falbo reported his cell phone stolen from his truck.

11/30/10 Melissa Morrow reported the theft of a laptop.

Arrests:

12/04/10 Chantell Sitek, 23, of Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

North Judson Police also gave out five seatbelt violation tickets to drivers and/or passengers who were found to not be wearing their seatbelt while in a motor vehicle.

From the Hamlet Police Department:

12/05/2010 Trisha Lehiy reported her purse was stolen from her vehicle in front of 301 W Pearl St. in Hamlet.
