Starke County Environmental Management

The Starke County Environmental Management District is excited to announce the Recycling Site will open to the residents of Starke County on February 25, 2019. The site will be open Monday – Friday from 7:00 AM– 3:00 PM.   The location of the site is 3835 E 250 N. Ste. B, Knox, Indiana 46534 *Note site is just west of the County Highway Department.

Staff will be on site to monitor materials going into the recycling bins. All materials must be on the acceptable materials list. Containers must be empty, clean, and dry. ALL materials deemed unacceptable or contaminated will be turned away. Contaminated materials ruin the whole load, causing that load to be landfilled.  

Recyclables accepted:

Corrugated Cardboard :(flat fold, large boxes must be cut into 3’x3’ pieces)

Snack/Cereal Boxes: (flat fold)

Office Paper

Newspapers

Paperback Books

Catalogs and Magazines

Shredded Paper: (must be bagged prefer paper bagged but can be in plastic bag; *note this is the only plastic bag that will be accepted)

Food Grade Glass:

Glass Clear and Brown: (clean food grade bottles only)

Food Grade Plastics:  

Plastics #1 (i.e. soft drink bottles, water bottles, juice containers)

Plastics #2 (i.e. milk jugs, shampoo/conditioner bottles, laundry bottles) 

Food Grade Cans:

Steel and Aluminum Cans

ALL CONTAINERS ARE TO BE EMPTY AND RINSED AND DRY

NO PLASTIC BAGS  NO SOILED PIZZA BOXES

NO STYROFOAM

NO TANGLERS/CORDS OR CHAINS

NO FOOD OR LIQUID WASTE-EMPTY ALL CONTAINERS

NO MEDICAL WASTE OR NEEDLES

LEAVE NOTHING OUTSIDE OF GATES

RECYCLABLE MATERIALS ACCEPTED ONLY WHEN SITE IS OPEN
