Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall Sentences Several Offenders

 
 
Several offenders were sentenced in Starke Circuit Court on Thursday.

Carrie Hensley pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a charge of Dealing in Narcotic Drugs (Heroin). Judge Kim Hall sentenced her to ten years in the Department of Corrections with three years suspended to be served on probation. She will participate in a therapeutic community while incarcerated. If she successfully completes a rehabilitative program and serves half of her sentence, she may petition the court for a modification of her sentence.

Starke Circuit Court Trial Ends with Hung Jury

 
 
The jury trial in the case of Billy Coldiron in Starke Circuit Court ended in a mistrial.

Coldiron had been charged with five counts of Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm after an incident in 2011 when officers from several police departments reportedly found him to be in possession of several pistols and long weapons during the execution of a search warrant at a home in North Judson.

Criminal Trial Takes Stage in Starke Circuit Court

A trial is set to resume in Starke Circuit Court today in the case of Billy Coldiron, facing five counts of Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Coldiron was arrested in 2011 when officers from the Starke and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Departments and the Knox City Police Department and North Judson Police Department served an arrest warrant at 1860 W. Dawn Drive.

Plea Agreements Fall Through In Starke Circuit Court

Attorney Richard Thonert of Fort Wayne, the counsel for Rose Martin, filed a motion to withdraw from her case. Martin is charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Chemical Reagents or Precursors. The court approved the motion, and Martin’s attorney is now Richard Ballard. A plea agreement was also rejected for Martin, and her trial is scheduled for Aug. 1 at 9 a.m. with a pretrial motions and instructions hearing on July 31, and a jury status hearing on July 20.

A plea agreement was also withdrawn for Billy Coldiron. The agreement would have sentenced him to four years in the Department of Corrections with two years suspended, and he would have been allowed to serve that sentence on home detention. The state withdrew their plea offer, and a plea agreement deadline has been set for July 18 at 9 a.m.

Two Violent Felons Arrested in North Judson

Two individuals were apprehended in North Judson after police received a complaint regarding people manufacturing methamphetamine and in possession of firearms at 1860 W Dawn Drive. After a brief investigation, the Starke County Sheriff’s Department discovered the suspects have been convicted serious violent felonies in Indiana and Michigan. Officers from the Starke and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Departments, a Knox K-9 officer, and North Judson Police went to serve an arrest warrant at that address for Illegal Purchase of Ephedrine.
