Eastern Pulaski to Work with Indiana Department of Education on Teacher Mentoring Initiative
Mentoring and retaining young teachers is the goal of a new partnership involving the Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation and the Indiana Department of Education. Eastern Pulaski Superintendent Dan Foster says the DOE is putting together a handbook to help with that effort, and the school corporation has been asked to join in.

The Indiana Department of Education is seeking participants for the 2018 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Rural areas such as Starke, Marshall and Pulaski Counties, are especially in need of services to help combat childhood hunger.

This week, the department announced the launch of a teacher recruitment and retention campaign. At the heart of that are two new websites designed “to promote positive educational resources and leasing personnel,” according to department officials.

Indiana Schools to Receive Less Tuition Support
In his report to the school board last week, West Central School Superintendent Don Street said the Indiana Department of Education notified school districts that tuition support monthly payments will be less.
“The Indiana State Budget for education is less than the total tuition support payments for the schools that have reported,” said Street. “So, we’ll see how that continues with our state legislature.”

New Graduation Pathways Approved by Indiana State Board of Education This Week
On Wednesday, the Indiana State Board of Education(SBOE) approved several new graduation pathways for Hoosier high school students beginning with the 2019 freshman class.
