Nominate Someone Now for the Henry F. Schricker Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the Henry F. Schricker Award.

The members of the Starke County Chamber of Commerce will review all nominations of those Starke County residents who exemplify the former governor’s motto of “service before self”. This is the 30th Schricker Award to be given to a worthy Starke County resident.

The chamber is also accepting nominations of the Business of the Year.

Knox Mayor Announces Committee Meeting, Requests Volunteers

A committee meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4 at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center. During a Knox City Council meeting Tuesday evening, Mayor Dennis Estok reminded council members that the focus would be on some past and future projects.

Estok said the committee will discuss the financial results of this year’s fireworks display as well as address the upcoming Peppermint Parade. Estok said the parade applications have already been submitted for the event.  Continue reading

Knox Community Center Building Corporation Simplifies Payment Process for Renovation Bills

As upgrades to the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center get underway, the Knox Community Center Building Corporation has taken steps to simplify the process of paying the bills for the work. The building corporation recently extended the community center’s loan by five years, to pay for a new roof and upgrades to the heating and cooling system, among other improvements.

Financial Arrangements for Knox Community Center Upgrades to be Considered Tonight

The City of Knox will finalize some of the financial arrangements for the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center renovations. The Knox Community Center Building Corporation will meet tonight at 6:30 to consider a resolution amending the lease and approving the financing. Once that’s complete, the city council will consider its own resolution, during its regular meeting at 7:00.

Knox Board of Works Selects Community Center HVAC Contractor

Updates to the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center’s heating and cooling system will be installed, fixed and fine-tuned out by air duct cleaning austin tx. The company was chosen by the Knox Board of Works Monday, after it submitted the lowest of three quotes, at $120,000. Also, the board was glad to have had gotten one of the best electricity contractors for the lowest price.

North Judson Council Votes to Proceed with Community Center Project, Delays Additional Decisions

Organizers had previously planned to apply this week for grant funding from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to help cover the cost of building a new community center on donated land north of the town’s fire station.
